The UFC on Fox 8 fight card scheduled for July 27 in Seattle continues to grow with the addition of two more lightweight bouts.
Fisher (24-9) enters the bout with Edwards with his back against the wall. Having fought more than half of his 33-fight career in the Octagon – dating back to 2005 – Fisher has lost his last three fights, as well as five of his last six.
It will have been more than a year since his last fight when the two meet, but Fisher needs a win if he wants to continue fighting under the UFC banner.
Edwards (42-19-1), like Fisher, has been around the sport, and the Octagon, for a long time. He first fought for the UFC in 2001, and has been fighting on-and-off for the organization ever since.
During his latest run in the UFC, Edwards has gone 4-3, alternating between wins and losses over his last six fights. He is currently coming off of a split decision loss to Strikeforce transplant Isaac Vallie-Flagg at UFC 156.
Chiesa (9-0) has been nothing less than stellar in his career, making his way into the Octagon by winning the fifteenth season of The Ultimate Fighter. He is currently 2-0 fighting for the UFC with wins over Al Iaquinta in the TUF 15 Finale and Anton Kuivanen at UFC 157.
Iranian born, but fighting out of Sweden, Madadi (13-3) rode a six-fight winning streak into the Octagon. He’s been moderately successful, winning his first fight in the UFC before losing a split decision to Cristiano Marcello. He then bounced back with a submission win over Ultimate Fighter 12 runner-up Michael Johnson.
UFC on Fox 8 doesn’t yet have an announced headlining bout, but is slated for July 27 at KeyArena in Seattle.
