The Maximum Fighting Championship on Thursday announced MFC 31: The Rundown featuring a light heavyweight title bout pitting current champion Ryan Jimmo against newly signed Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou. The MFC 31 fight card takes place on Oct. 7 at the Mayfield Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and will be broadcast on HDNet.

The announced title bout displaces an MFC lightweight title bout between recently re-signed champion Antonio McKee and Brian Cobb. The two will instead clash at MFC 32 in November, although an exact date and location had not been pinned down at the time of publication.

“I am extremely excited to see what happens when Jimmo and Sokoudjou collide. I truly believe it will be the most explosive title fight ever in MFC history,” said Mark Pavelich, Owner/President of the Maximum Fighting Championship.

“Ryan is a terrific champion and represents the MFC like no other fighter ever has before. Now we’re going to see how he handles the athleticism and pressure that Sokoudjou will put on him.”

Two other main-card bouts are also set for MFC 31, both in the lightweight ranks. In a bout between two top contenders in the MFC 155-pound ranks, Richie Whitson (11-1) will take on Kajan Johnson (18-10-1) with the winner moving a step closer to a shot at the MFC’s 155-pound title. The HDNet Fights live television broadcast will open with an encounter between two fast-rising prospects as hometown product Mukai Maromo (5-2) battles Sabah Fadai (7-1).

Expect three more bouts to be added to the HDNet televised MFC 31 main card, with a full complement of undercard matchups also to be set soon for those in attendance.

You mean he WAS the best fighter in the world in that category back in the twilight days of Pride when he KOed Arona and Nog.

He is a two hit wonder that lost to Minowaman who is a bum.
