Stefan Struve Broken Jaw X-RayStefan Struve, just six weeks removed from suffering a broken jaw, is already back in the gym.

Not only has the seven-foot-tall UFC heavyweight started training again, he’s also got an eye out for his return to the Octagon.

“6 weeks after having surgery on my jaw I had my 1st full contact mma training tonight, it went GREAT!” Struve exclaimed Tuesday night on Twitter. “Aiming to be back in a couple months!”

It’s somewhat surprising that Struve has already returned to full-contact training considering the nature of the break he suffered.

Heavyweight contender Mark Hunt broke Struve’s jaw in the third round of their UFC on Fuel TV 8 bout on March 3 in Japan. Hunt landed a perfectly timed left hook that sent Struve crashing to the canvas and then off to the hospital.

The loss ended Struve’s four-fight winning streak and dashed his dream of jumping into the heavyweight title talk.

At just 25 years of age, Struve already has 13 UFC bouts to his credit – winning nine and losing four – so he has plenty of time to get back into the mix. But it sounds like he’s already chomping at the bit to do so.

Its takes courage to come back from a broken jaw and not fight scared. Hope Struve learned something from that fight and changes the way he uses his size and implements a game plan.

You’re right. Some of them aren’t the same after something like that – fight with a hesitation or reserve that wasn’t there before. Which is different than learning from mistakes and fighting smarter till the right moment.
Though Stuve’s been KO’d before and he’s game as ever – you never know when that last frag is one too many and they’ve no more time for it.
Like Struve, a different sort for the HWs. Hope he comes back strong.
