Veteran mixed martial arts and kickboxing coach Shawn Tompkins passed away on Aug. 14, 2011. The 37-year-old was one of the premier trainers in the sport, leading fighters such as Sam Stout, Mark Hominick, Chris Horodecki, and numerous others to prominence in the fight game.
He will remembered at a public memorial on Oct. 28 in Las Vegas. It will take place at the Tapout Training Center from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The evening includes food, beverages, music and a silent auction that supports the Tompkins Memorial Fund.
Guest speakers at the Tompkins memorial service include his mentor and former UFC champion Bas Rutten, his fighters and friends Sam Stout and Mark Hominick, and journalist Mike Straka.
Bidding for the silent auction will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. and winning bids will be announced at 7:45 p.m. Auction items include autographed sports memorabilia from UFC, NFL and MLB athletes, among other items.
