Matt Serra has spent the majority of his professional fighting career in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. In fact, it is the only organization that he has fought for since his Octagon debut in 2001. But April 7th in Houston, Texas, when he steps into the cage across from Georges St. Pierre, will be his first title shot. He earned that shot by winning the welterweight division of The Ultimate Fighter Season 4.
Following a brief retirement, Frank Trigg re-emerged as a contender in the middleweight division. He quickly earned a title by defeating then champion Jason “Mayhem” Miller under the ICON banner. Trigg then launched himself up the rankings by dominating Kazuo Misaki, who was then one of the Top 5 ranked fighters in the world. This Saturday night Trigg makes his first ICON title defense when he faces Miletich fighter Robbie Lawler in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Josh Haynes made a name for himself in the UFC by making his way to the finals of The Ultimate Fighter Season 3. Unfortunately for him, Haynes lost in the finale to British fighter Michael Bisping. He returned at last October’s UFC Fight Night only to drop a decision to Rory Singer, also an Ultimate Fighter veteran. In Houston next week, Haynes could be fighting for his UFC career when he faces Luke Cummo.
All three fighters – Serra, Trigg, and Haynes – join Damon & Jeff LIVE tonight on MMAWeeklyRadio.com at 6pm PT / 9pm ET.
