A lightweight contest between Sean Sherk and Gleison Tibau is on tap for UFC 103 on Sept. 19 in Dallas, MMAWeekly has learned from sources close to the fight.
Sherk (33-4-1) comes off a disappointing loss to Frankie Edgar at UFC 98, reversing an important win against Tyson Griffin at UFC 90, where he showcased improved standup skills. Since his suspension by the California State Athletic Commission for steroid use, a charge he has steadfastly denied, Sherk has requested only top-tier contenders in the 155 division.
Tibau (17-7) recently slid against Melvin Guillard at the season nine finale of “The Ultimate Fighter,” his fourth Octagon loss in nine appearances.
