A possible No. 1 contender’s bout is on deck for the upcoming Strikeforce show in March as former champion Sarah Kaufman will meet Alexis Davis.

Strikeforce confirmed the bout on Saturday night.

Needless to say, former Strikeforce champion Sarah Kaufman was none too happy to hear the news that Miesha Tate defend her women’s bantamweight title against Ronda Rousey instead of her.

Kaufman will instead square off with dangerous 135-pound fighter Alexis Davis on the same card as Tate vs. Rousey on March 3 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. Since losing the title to Marloes Coenen in 2010, Kaufman has won her last two bouts in a row to re-enter the contender talk in the division.

Hoping to solidify her own spot in the title race is Alexis Davis, who comes into the bout with Kaufman on a three-fight win streak.

Davis has picked up two big wins recently with a victory over Greg Jackson student Julie Kedzie, as well as a TKO stoppage over highly touted Amanda Nunes last September. It will also be a chance at revenge for Davis, who lost her first professional fight to Kaufman all the way back in 2007.

Davis and Kaufman meet with the winner almost assuredly getting the next crack at the title when the dust settles between Tate and Rousey.

nobody wants to see kaufman fight Tate. Rousey is good looking and can fight as is Tate. Kaufman looks like a mule compared to the other two pretty girls. Fans want looks and talent in woman’s MMA. Kaufman is too bland and dull.

No. Real fans of MMA want talent. The rest of you just want to watch some women’s mud wrestling.
I’m all for a bit of eye candy, that’s what the ring girls are for. When it comes to fights, I want to see talent. Fight fans aren’t interested in a hair pulling match of beauty queens.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You must be a uneducated mma fan or just a re-tard. The reality of the situation is Sarah would smash either one of these so called good looking girls. I would rather see a good fight then 2 girls roll around on the ground and try to hit each other. If I wanted that I have the playboy channel. Crawl back under your rock almiel u mule.

plain unattractive girls are not worth watching in MMA. There is a reason UFC doesn’t have woman because there is no interest. nobody wants to see plain looking ugly broads fighting period. Sara Kaufman is blah dull too plain looking. Fans want to see Carano-Tate-Rousey ladies with looks and talent. Kaufman and even the man/woman steroid Cyborg are not appealing Fighters that look like the ring card girls are what the fans want.

if u wanna watch hot girls fight watch WWE. Real MMA fans wanna watch skilled fighters and sarah kaufman is a very skilled fighter and will be champ again. Aswell try talking your smack to kaufmans face i bet u she’d whoop your ass lol

  • daddy250

real mma fans want skilled fights. wannabe/never get a girl in their life losers want hot girl fights to get off on cause they ain’t gettin any

  • alhmiel

plain unattractive girls fighting is worthless to the sport and MMA. there is no appeal for ugly woman to fight. sara kaufman offers nothing to mma and is dull. Santos is half man as a future check-up will disclose. If woman’s MMA is to survive it will be with an attractive array the of fighters that the fans want to see and look at. Listen to Dana White he made the Rousey-Tate fight for ratings and appeal. because they are both attractive and talented. DUH???
