The first match-up in the Bellator Fighting Championships heavyweight tournament has been announced as former UFC fighter Eddie Sanchez takes on British heavy hitter and fellow UFC veteran Neil Grove on August 12 in Hollywood, Fla.

Sanchez has fought in Bellator twice previously picking up wins on both occasions. Defeating Jay White and Marcus Sursa, Sanchez has won his last four fights in a row after being released from his UFC contract following back-to-back losses in the Octagon.

Neil Grove comes to Bellator after spending time in several promotions, most notably a single fight with the UFC, and the majority of his career in the Cage Rage organization in England.

Grove holds wins over James Thompson and current UFC fighter James McSweeney, and comes into the Bellator tournament off of a draw in his last fight against Stav Economou in May.

The fight between Grove and Sanchez will kick off the next string of tournament fights for Bellator, which will also include a bantamweight tournament and a women’s tournament as well.
