In a Shooto demonstration match, Rumina Sato defeated Hayato “Mach” Sakurai with one of his patented flying armbar submissions. After the two went back and forth, Sato surprised the crowd and Sakurai with the sudden manuever.

On the same Shooto show at Kourakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan, Antonio Carvalho and Takeshi Inoue fought for the 143-pound Championship. Previously, the belt was held by Alexandre Franca “Pequeno” Noguiera, who vacated the belt earlier this week due continued injury problems.

Carvalho was the first Canadian to fight for a championship title in Shooto, but he was overcome by Inoue at 3:06 of the first round by TKO.

Carvalho previously fought Inoue last year and won via judges’ decision. In this fight, Carvalho landed a high kick that shook Inoue, but then Carvalho went to the ground with Inoue, who proved to be too much to handle on the mat. Inoue is the new 143-pound Shooto Champion.
