It’s a battle of Brazilians in Rio as a part of UFC 134 as Rousimar Palhares is set to face Alexandre ‘Cacareco’ Ferreira in a middleweight bout on the August card.
Sources close to the negotiations confirmed the bout is set for the August card to MMAWeekly.com on Tuesday. Porto do Vale Tudo first reported the rumored match-up.
MMAWeekly.com first reported Palhares’ involvement with the card last week as the Brazilian leg lock master will get to stay at home for a fight in Brazil.
A student of former UFC middleweight champion Murilo Bustamante, Palhares is known for his deadly submission arsenal and ground skills, and he’ll look to show those off once again when he faces ‘Cacareco’ in August.
While there was some initial concerns about weight involved with Alexandre ‘Cacareco’ Ferreira dropping down to middleweight, it appears he’s comfortable enough with the drop now to sign on for the fight.
‘Cacareco’ long lobbied to get into the UFC, but fell short in his debut losing to Vladdy Matyushenko at UFC 122 last year. Now making the move to 185lbs, he’ll try his hand versus Palhares in August.
