Pearson vs Assuncao UFC 141Fresh off of a victory at the recent UFC on Fox 8 in Seattle, Melvin Guillard has agreed to step into the UFC Fight Night: Bisping vs. Munoz co-main event to square off with Ross Pearson.

The bout was announced on UFC Tonight on Tuesday night.

UFC Fight Night: Bisping vs. Munoz will be the first live UFC event on Fox Sports 2, which is a re-branding of Fuel TV that launches alongside Fox Sports 1 on Aug. 17. The event, slated for Oct. 26, also marks the promotion’s return to Manchester, England.

Guillard (31-12-2) knocked out The Ultimate Fighter 6 winner Mac Danzig on July 27 in Seattle. Having lost four of his previous five bouts, and coming off of back-to-back losses entering the fight, Guillard himself admitted that his UFC career was on the line against Danzig.

Pearson (15-6) is on a rebound of his own. Following a 1-1 trip to featherweight, the Englishman is now won consecutive bouts since returning to lightweight, the division he was in when he won the ninth season of The Ultimate Fighter.

Pearson is on his home turf fighting in England, and the fight is Guillard’s first trip to the U.K.

Middleweight contenders Michael Bisping and Mark Munoz headline the Oct. 26 fight card.

This is going to be a very good fight. Early fight of the night candidate for sure. Pearson TKO 3rd round.

Back away from the crack pipe!!!

Yes. Pearson´s superior counterpunching will give him the win, unless he´s careless and Menvin lands anything devestating. Any how, superb matchup. A good step for Pearson to the title.

Easy win for Guillard he needs it so he won’t get cut.

I wouldn’t count out Pearson. I don’t think he has the power Melvin has, but his footwork and boxing is solid, and his wrestling has improved. I consider Melvin the favorite to win but this should be more competitive than some are saying. Both guys tend to put on good fights, so hopefully this fight will have fireworks.

If Jamie Varner got passed guillard with his boxing and wrestling, Ross has a good shot as well

Sad to say but if Pearson takes Guillard down then it’s Melvin’s weak area. If they stand and bang I give it to Guillard.

    31-2-2? Uhm…

    Good fight…could go either way!
