Road FC 13 PosterRoad FC 13 is set for Oct. 12 in Gumi, South Korea. It will be headlined by a rematch between Yui Chul Nam and Takasuke Kume. The Korean beat the Japanese fighter by decision in the final of the lightweight Grand Prix in April, but the fight was not without controversy.

After three rounds, the 155-pound title bout, which was the main event of Road FC 11, was declared a draw. The fight went to an extra round. The referee’s decision to stand the fighters up with less than a minute to go in the overtime round, when Kume was in a dominant position, proved decisive.

Nam walked away with a unanimous decision victory. The loss put an end to Kume’s nine-fight winning streak.

As a result, matchmakers have decided to grant Kume (15-2-4) an immediate rematch against the reigning champion Nam (16-4-1). The fight is set to headline the Korean promotion’s 13th card, which will be its first to take place in Gumi.

Road FC has titleholders in three different weight classes to date, using an eight-man elimination tournament to crown all of its inaugural champions. All the belts are currently owned by Koreans. Kil Woo Lee recently claimed bantamweight honors, Eun Soo Lee is the middleweight champion, and Nam holds the lightweight strap.

Road FC 13 is also likely to feature the semifinals of the 145-Pound Grand Prix with Bae Young Kwon, Young Bok Gil, Mu Gyeom Choi, and Byung Ok Cho all in contention to be the inaugural featherweight champion after winning their opening round match-ups in Wonju in June.
