Resurrection Fighting Alliance made its first trip to Costa Mesa, Calif., on Friday, landing in the Hangar at the OC Fair and Event Center.

The night provided several exciting finishing, but none more so than the main event.

Mehdi Baghdad stepped into the headliner opposite Zach Juusola, both men looking to lay claim to the vacant RFA lightweight championship left up for grabs when Christos Giagos got the call up to the UFC.

It was Baghdad who made the most of the opportunity, splitting Juusola open and dropping him with a Thai elbow midway through the fourth round. As soon as Juusola hit the mat, Baghdad was on top of him, dropping punches and hammerfists until the fight was stopped.

Juusola had already had an opportunity to fight for the UFC, but had to decline the opportunity at the time due to personal reasons. Now, having defeated Juusola, Baghdad not only claimed the RFA 155-pound title, but likely put himself on the short list of UFC matchmakers Joe Silva and Sean Shelby.
