UFC 138 started off with a welterweight fight between Mark Scanlon and James Head.

Exit Mark Scanlon, due to injury.

Brit John Maguire then signed on to take Scanlon’s vacancy.

Exit James Head, again, due to injury.

So the original bout is completely erased from the card, but in its stead is a retooled bout pitting Maguire against TUF 13’s Justin Edwards.

One of the top 170-pounders on the British scene, Maguire enters UFC 138 on the heels of a five-fight winning streak, which is part of a 16-3 overall record. Maguire holds the UCMMA welterweight title and is a veteran of BAMMA and Cage Rage.

Edwards (7-1) made his way to the Octagon via season 13 of The Ultimate Fighter. While he lost his first fight on the show to eventual winner Tony Ferguson, and his TUF 13 Finale fight to Clay Harvison, Edwards rebounded at UFC Fight Night 25 with a unanimous decision victory over Jorge Lopez.

Maguire vs. Edwards is expected to fill a slot on the preliminary portion of the UFC 138 fight card. Chris Leben vs. Mark Munoz headlines the event on Nov. 5 at the LG Arena in Birmingham, England.
