UFC 122 has undergone a major change just minutes before the live broadcast as co-main event fighter Alessio Sakara has been forced out of his bout against Jorge Rivera due to illness.

According to MMAJunkie.com, UFC press officials alerted the media in attendance that Sakara has been sick and will be pulled from the card tonight. Additionally, Steven Marracco on site reported the welterweight fight between Duane “Bang” Ludwig and Nick Osipczak has been promoted to the main card for tonight’s televised bouts.

Sakara was fighting for the first time since a March win over James Irvin. The American Top Team fighter was forced out of a bout in August due to injury, and now a last minute illness has forced his removal from the UFC 122 co-main event.

The UFC has not stated at this time if another fight will be bumped up to the main card to take the place of the Rivera vs. Sakara bout.
