Melvin GuillardMelvin Guillard was recently released by the UFC, but he already has a new home after signing with the World Series of Fighting.

Guillard and the WSOF announced the signing late Monday.

“Just signed with WSOF it feeling good to be apart of something different its time to make some real money and get that belt,” Guillard tweeted.

There has been no information released on Guillard’s first opponent or even a date for his debut, but WSOF executive vice president Ali Abdel-Aziz teased a possible July debut in his tweet welcoming Guillard to the promotion.

Guillard (31-13-2, 2 NC) was released by the UFC in March after losing to The Ultimate Fighter season 12 runner-up Michael Johnson in London.

The brash fighter made his way to the Octagon via the second season of TUF. He didn’t go far on the show, losing to Josh Burkman, who is also on the WSOF roster.

Guillard scored a victory at the series finale in November of 2005 and fought for the UFC ever since, save for one time when he stepped out of the Octagon to fight for Rage in the Cage. He amassed a 12-9 record with one no contest while fighting for the UFC.

Great place for him. I used to hate him when he acted like a punk, but he grew up and grew on me. He can definitely win a belt there!

I had the same feeling especially during his first appearance in the TUF. But at the end, to fight in the UFC is not an easy job especially when you are 20 years old (fame, stress…) and I can understand that some fighters are acting like dickheads… Anyway he puts some great fights and I am sure he is going to keep doing that….I am a big fan of the UFC but it is good that some others org start to have some solid names. I just feel a little bit disgusted how the UFC reacts with some ‘old employees’…They should show more respect. good luck to him
