Rashad Evans vs. Ryan Bader Slated for UFC 192

A light heavyweight match-up between Rashad Evans and Ryan Bader has been booked for UFC 192, company president Dana White said on Wednesday.

White appeared on FOX Sports 1’s “UFC Tonight” and revealed the pairing, which is part of the organization’s return to Houston on Oct. 3.

Evans (19-3-1) hasn’t seen the inside of the cage for almost two years due to nagging injuries. Most recently, Evans underwent knee surgery and had expected to return to fighting by the end of 2015. His last outing came in November of 2013, when he finished Chael Sonnen in the first round at UFC 167.

Bader (19-4) is on his longest winning streaking since coming into the UFC on the heels of winning “The Ultimate Fighter.” A victor of four in a row, Bader was beefing with newly crowned 205-pound champ Daniel Cormier. Though intrigue from a potential fight between the two brewed at a recent post-fight press conference, officials evidently thought it best to pair Bader with Evans instead.

UFC 192 is scheduled to take place at the Houston Toyota Center, and the fight card is currently developing.
