Top UFC light heavyweights Rashad Evans and Glover Teixeira are set to headline UFC Fight Night 61 on Feb. 22 at Ginasio Gigantinho in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

UFC officials announced the bout via its Brazilian Twitter account on Thursday.

Rashad EvansFormer light heavyweight champion Evans (19-3-1) has been out of action since he crushed Chael Sonnen at UFC 167 in November of last year. He had been scheduled to fight Daniel Cormier in February of this year, but a knee injury sidelined him for the full calendar year.

He’ll attempt to make Teixeira his third consecutive victory – he defeated Dan Henderson prior to Sonnen – when the two meet on the Brazilian’s home turf.

Teixeira (22-4) is coming off of the first back-to-back defeats of his career. He failed to wrest the belt form current champion Jon Jones in April and then lost to Phil Davis in October, leaving a dark cloud over his 2014.

He’ll look to get back in the title hunt with a win over Evans.

This could actually be an interesting fight.

Agreed. But I think evens will make glover look silly. Evans is to quick and his cage control and wrestling will make it an easy fight for him.

I’m hoping after the Davis fight that Glover has improved his wrestling some, plus I truly think Rashaad might stand with him, which would make it very watchable. Just my opinion obviously.

    Watch Rashad hold Glover down.
Glover is too slow for Rashad.

Glover just got dominated by Phil Davis, Rashad will have no problems winning this. Dumb fight, I guess Rashad wants a tune up before a real fight.

I’m a big Glover fan and I agree with everything you wrote!

Glover cant handle top ten fighters but only worn out journey men from brazil. He oughta stay in the lower ranks, or someone gonna seriously hurt the poor feller

Give me a break. I agree that he wont beat Rashad but Bader, Henderson, OSP and Manuwa are all ranked top 10 and none of them would beat Glover.

Glover cannot fight anyone with speed. He will be beat badly again. Sugar will beat him worse the Davis did.
