As Pro Elite starts to put together their first show under new ownership in late August in Hawaii, a few fighters names have been announced for the card including former UFC champion Andrei Arlovski.
T. Jay Thompson, who is now the Vice President of Fight Operations at Pro Elite, announced several bouts and names for the upcoming card when speaking to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.
As first reported by MMAWeekly.com, former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski has been tapped as part of the main event for the card going down on Aug 27 in Hawaii. Arlovski will be in desperate need of a win after dropping four fights in a row with three of them coming by way of KO or TKO.
No opponent has been named to face Arlovksi yet, but that announcement should be forthcoming in the next few weeks.
Other fights likely to take place on the Pro Elite card include former UFC middleweight Drew McFedries taking on Kala Hose in a bout between two big time sluggers.
Raquel Pa’aluhi is expected to face Olympic silver medalist Sara McMann in a women’s bout, while former NCAA heavyweight champion wrestler Mark Ellis meets former Hawaii football player Jake Huen on the card.
It will mark Ellis’ debut after deciding to make the move into MMA last year. The former Missouri wrestler took up camp at American Kickboxing Academy, where he’s served as a sparring partner for many of the fighters there while learning the ropes of the fight game.
While not official, former ‘Ultimate Fighter’ winner Kendall Grove is also said to be in talks with Pro Elite about possibly appearing on the show.
Grove was released from the UFC following a loss to Tim Boetsch at UFC 130. Grove went just 1-3 in his last four fights before exiting the promotion.
More fights are expected to be announced in the coming weeks for the Pro Elite show.
