SportsNavi reports that Pride is looking to get Middleweight participants in the Open Weight GP that is planned for May 5th in Japan or else it won’t be an open weight GP, just the regular Heavyweight GP.

Pride appears to be using Pride 31 as a gauge as to how well some Middleweight fighters will do against the Heavyweights, as Shogun is fighting Coleman. Apparently Pride is considering Wanderlei Silva and Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua to participate in the Open Weight GP in May.

According to the report, Alistair Overeem may move to fight Heavyweight. Whether that means he will move up in weight to fight in the Heavyweight class or just fight heavier opponents is not clear.

In an interesting side note, Pride is currently planning to take their show on the road to the U.S., Korea, Holland, and Brazil.
