FABRICIO WERDUM VS. GABRIEL GONZAGA AT UFC 80

It has been confirmed that Fabricio Werdum will face Gabriel Gonzaga at the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s event on Jan. 19 in New Castle, England.

Werdum is training at Chute Boxe now and according to him everything is set and we are going to see a new Fabricio Werdum in the Octagon.

On the surface, it seems a bit odd that Gonzaga and Werdum will face each other because they both have ties to Chute Boxe, but Gonzaga has moved on to Team Link to train with Marco Alvan, so it’s not all that unusual. Even Master Rudimar Fedrigo, head of Chute Boxe, believes that it is completely normal.

ANTONIO RODRIGO NOGUEIRA VS. RANDY COUTURE?

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira traveled to U.S recently to discuss some issues with the UFC regarding his next fight. It seems that a proposed fight between Nogueira and Tim Sylvia is on hold. The UFC apparently is trying to put together a fight between Nogueira and disgruntled heavyweight champion Randy Couture.

PEDRO RIZZO AND PETER AERTS TRAINING

Rizzo predicts that Aerts will make it to the final and face Semmy Schilt at K-1. He still doesn’t know who he is going to face at Art of War in his next title defense in late January.

RICARDO ARONA AND THE UFC?

In a recent interview with the Brazilian press, Ricardo Arona stated that the rules of the UFC are perfect for him, saying the rules with elbows and 5-minute rounds were tailor-made for him.

Speculation has long pointed to Arona heading to the UFC to fight, but recent rumors have pointed at M-1 Global, the new promotion that recently signed Fedor Emelianenko. A contract with either promotion has yet to be confirmed, however.

DEMIAN MAIA AND SUPER CHALLENGE GRAPPLING

After being elected the best submission of the night at the last UFC, the ADCC 185-pound champion, Demian Maia, is now ready to fight at Super Challenge Grappling that will take place in Sao Paulo on Dec. 8. Some of the more impressive names competing are jiu-jitsu fighter Ronaldo Jacare, Chute Boxe fighter Fabricio Werdum, ADCC champion Robert Drysdale and UFC veteran Jeff Monson.
