BJ Penn is back in the UFC and there have been many questions about his future. MMAWeekly.com has not only learned that Penn has signed a three fight deal with the UFC, but it looks as though Penn will have to take a non-title fight in his first fight back in the UFC.

If he wins his first fight in the Octagon, then he gets the shot at the UFC championship. No time table has been scheduled but it looks as though the fight will happen in either February and March. There has also been talk in Penn’s camp that if he wins his first two fights, then he would relinquish his title and then move up to the 185 pounds weight class.

In other interesting news and notes, the UFC and Penn’s camp reached an out of court settlement with not only BJ Penn, but Rumble on the Rock and Cabbage Correira as well. Penn and The UFC were scheduled to go to court over BJ being stripped of his World Title. They instead worked out an out of court settlement.

Here was the UFC’s take in their press release…

LAS VEGAS,NEV., – Zuffa, LLC, owner of the Ultimate Fighting Championship® brand, announced today that it agreed to dismiss its lawsuits against former UFC fighter Wesley “Cabbage” Correira and against Hawaiian promoter Rumble on the Rock.

As a condition for Zuffa to dismiss the Correira and
ROTR lawsuits, Correira and ROTR agreed to pay Zuffa’s
legal fees and costs associated with the litigation.

Dana White, UFC President, stated he was pleased that both lawsuits were now resolved. “We prefer to be promoters, not litigators. But everyone knows that we will always vigorously fight to protect our rights,” White said. White added that, “We all wish Cabbage the best in the future.”
