A light heavyweight bout between Patrick Cummins and Francimar Barroso has been added to the UFC Fight Night card in Albuquerque. UFC officials announced the match-up on Friday.
Cummins (4-1) made his UFC debut on short notice at UFC 170 on Feb. 22, filling in for the injured Rashad Evans against undefeated Daniel Cormier. The two were former training partners while Cormier was preparing for the Olympic games in wrestling. He went from working in a coffee shop to competing in the UFC in a matter of days. He lost to Cormier by technical knockout and hopes to bounce back from his first career loss on June 7.
Barroso (16-5) made a successful promotional debut at UFC 163 in August 2013 against fellow Brazilian Ednaldo Oliveira, winning by unanimous decision in front of his hometown crowd in Rio de Janeiro. He lost a close split decision to Hans Stringer in his next outing on March 23. Prior to the loss, Barroso was on a four-fight winning streak.
UFC Fight Night 42: Henderson vs. Khabilov takes place at the Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque on June 7. The event is headlined by a lightweight match-up between former champion Benson Henderson and rising Russian star Rustam Khabilov.
