Patrick CoteA welterweight fight between Patrick Cote and Stephen Thompson has been added to UFC 178, according to a report on Sunday.

MMAWeekly.com independently confirmed an initial report by The Canadian Press that the Cote-Thompson tilt was added to the Las Vegas fight card, which is scheduled to take place Sept. 27 in Las Vegas.

Cote (20-8) comes into the fight fresh off his stint as coach on TUF: Nations. At the show’s season finale, Cote scored a unanimous decision over opposing coach Kyle Noke. He is the winner of three in a row.

Thompson (9-1) is also on a three-fight win streak, most recently dispatching Robert Whittaker with a first-round technical knockout at UFC 170 last February.

UFC 178 is currently without a venue, but an announcement on the card’s location is expected in the coming weeks. The card will be headlined by a light heavyweight title rematch between champion Jon Jones and challenger Alexander Gustafsson.

His stand up was insane when he was 14, he is on another level from pretty much anyone standing.
