Pat Barry vs. Shawn Jordan Agreed for UFC Bout Sometime in May

Posted on by MMAWeekly.com Staff

Pat BarryA heavyweight showdown between Pat Barry and Shawn Jordan has been agreed to for sometime in May, MMAWeekly.com sources indicated on Tuesday. They just haven’t quite nailed down which date yet.

The promotion currently has two events slated for May. UFC on FX 8: Belfort vs. Rockhold is scheduled for May 18 in Brazil, while UFC 160: Velasquez vs. Silva II is set for just one week later in Las Vegas.

Barry (8-4) enters the bout following a second-round knockout victory over former Strikeforce fighter Shane Del Rosario at the TUF 16 Finale in December.

Barry has had a sporadic UFC tenure, bouncing back and forth between wins and losses. A win over Jordan would mark the first time in his four-plus years and 10 bouts in the Octagon that he put together back-to-back victories.

Jordan (14-4), like Del Rosario, was a Strikeforce import, when the promotion shuttered its heavyweight division. He is currently 2-1 in the Octagon, coming off of a TKO stoppage of Mike Russow at UFC on Fox 6 earlier this year in Chicago.

well, neither man is brazilian so i dont see them booking this fight for a UFC Brazil event…if the UFC wants to keep in theme of an all HW main card, like they did for last years PPV event Memorial Day weekend, then this fight fits in quite nicely…

    Cain v. Bigfoot II
    JDS v. Reem
    Barry v. Jordan

throw in a few more and have those back ups in case of injury (like last yr) and youre good to go…

I was hoping Carwin could be back by then. Stipe Miocic is available and I think a good opener could be Herman vs Duffey. Voila, all HW card.

I don’t know about y’all, but I absolutely love watching Pat Barry fight. He’s an emotional guy, who is still growing in the sport. His BJJ has improved drastically and even if he never cracks the Top 10 rankings, I will always tune in to watch him either beat someone’s ass or get his ass beat, all in spectacular fashion.

If Barry could drop to 205, he would be a monster

I like barry’s style but he lack that killer instinct. He just waits instead of finishing.

Are you kidding? Watch the kongo/del rosario fight brotha! Pat straight goes for broke.

His killer instinct is there….just needs to keep working on his ground game
