The lightweights will go to battle as the WEC invades Columbus, OH when former IFL stand-out, Bart Palaszewski, takes on rising star, Karen Darabedyan, in a 155lb contest on the undercard of the Saturday night event. The bout was announced by the WEC on Tuesday.
A winner in his last two fights, Palaszewski is looking to build upon his last victory in the WEC, a split decision nod he got over Anthony Pettis back in December.
Coming into the organization with high hopes, Palaszewski fell on tougher times after an exciting win in his first fight with the WEC, to drop his next two with losses to Ricardo Lamas and to knockout artist Anthony Njokuani.
Now back on track, Palaszewski looks to derail a very tough opponent in Karen Darabedyan, who made his WEC debut in November 2009.
Never one to back down from a challenge, Darabedyan drew former WEC champion, “Razor” Rob McCullough in his first bout for the promotion and brought the fight to the former title holder. Darabedyan ended up with a split decision win over McCullough and is looking to build his way into the lightweight title picture when he faces Palaszewski in Ohio.
The WEC’s debut show in Columbus has been filling up fast with 3 fights announced in the last 24 hours. The card will be headlined by bantamweight champion, Brian Bowles, defending his belt against top contender, Dominic Cruz.
