One FC Results: Folayang Outlasts Kwon; Yoshida Beats Baroni

One FC held their debut event in Singapore on Saturday with main event fighter Eduard Folayang and former UFC welterweight Yoshiyuki Yoshida both coming away with victories.

The main event on the inaugural event featured one of the best up and coming fighters out of Asia as Eduard Folayang took on Heat FC champion A Sol Kwon.

Folayang was able to outpoint Kwon for the better part of their 15-minute bout, despite the Korean breaking his nose early in the fight. While the damage done was good for Kwon’s offense, the end result didn’t help him out.

Following the fight, MMAWeekly.com learned that Kwon likely broke his hand when giving Folayang the broken nose, and rendered him with one less weapon for the rest of the fight. A mix of kicks and pressure kept Folayang ahead for the majority of the fight, and he was given the unanimous decision win.

Former UFC welterweight Yoshiyuki Yoshida said he had a new found confidence heading into his bout with Phil Baroni, and he also learned from past mistakes by employing a much smarter strategy.

Three straight losses had Yoshida considering retirement, but he bounced back strong with a TKO win in his last fight, and he showed more improvement when facing Baroni. The Japanese judoka used superior takedowns and wrestling to put Baroni on the mat, and never let him get his hands loose.

The fight was so frustrating for Baroni that after the fight ended and Yoshida was given the win, he refused to shake hands or give his opponent credit. The Singapore crowd let Baroni hear it, and he eventually relented and gave Yoshida his due.

Gregor Gracie picked up his 4th straight win while fighting at One FC, but for the first time in his last four bouts, he actually didn’t end it in the first round. Gracie had finished 3 straight opponents in the first round, but he found his opponent in Singapore Seok Mo Kim to be tougher than expected.

Gracie dominated the fight, but Kim was able to stave off submissions and make it all three rounds.

Former ‘Ultimate Fighter’ competitor Andy Wang was the only fighter on the One FC card to miss making weight, and he paid for it with a part of his purse going to opponent Zorobabel Moreira, and then he paid for it in the fight as well.

Moreira finished off Wang with strikes in the 2nd round earning the blistering TKO win.
