Three more fights were recently added to the ONE FC: Battle of Lions card. The event is set for the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Nov. 7 with top featherweight prospects Amir Khan and Major Overall both returning to the cage after emphatic stoppage wins.
Khan (1-1) is rewarded for his recent victory over experienced Malaysian Jian Kai Chee with a bout against Pakistani Waqar Umar (3-1), who made his ONE FC debut as a lightweight, but will be dropping down a division for this fight.
Rated as Singapore’s top prospect at present, Khan is only 19 years old, but already holds a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and has professional Muay Thai experience and a solid background in amateur MMA.
Overall (5-1) made his ONE FC debut in 2012, moving up a division to take a fight on a few days notice. He lost, but it was the only defeat of his career to date and he returned to Asia’s biggest MMA organization two years later to stop previously undefeated Brazilian featherweight Bruno Pucci in the opening round.
His reward for that performance is a Nov. 7 bout with Cary Bullos 7-1, who was one of the top bantamweight contenders with the URCC, but will be moving up a division to make his ONE FC debut.
The third fight announced this week sees Singaporean Kirstie Gannaway make her pro debut against Malaysia’s Adek Omar (1-0) in a bout that will be taking place in the women’s 105-pound division.
ONE FC: Battle of Lions is headlined by a fight between Leandro Ataides and Igor Svirid, which will have the inaugural 185-pound title at stake. Fans around Asia can catch all the action live on FOX Sports 3, while the event will be available for purchase at just US$9.99 from http://www.onefc.com/livestream.
