Ukrainian heavyweight Oleksiy Oliynyk’s UFC debut has been delayed. He was expected to face wrestling standout Jared Rosholt on the UFC on Fox 10 fight card, but an injury has forced the 36-year-old out of the fight.
UFC officials announced the development on Wednesday.
Rosholt will not get a replacement opponent, and the Jan. 25 fight card in Chicago will now feature 11 fights instead of the originally planned 12.
Oliynyk (48-1-9) is on a 9-fight winning streak. The Sambo specialist submitted former UFC and Pride heavyweight Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic in the opening round of his last outing on Nov. 8 in Moscow.
Rosholt (9-1) made his UFC debut on Nov. 30, winning a unanimous decision over Walt Harris at The Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale.
