Bodog Fight has confirmed that Eddie Alvarez and Nick Thompson have agreed to a rematch on Saturday, Nov. 24 as Bodog Fight presents Hook n Shoot at the Evansville Coliseum in Evansville, Ind.
The two first met earlier this year in April at Bodog’s event in St. Petersburg, Russia headlined by Fedor Emelianenko’s defeat of Matt Lindland. Thompson won the bout and the Bodog Fight welterweight title, handing Alvarez the first loss of his professional career.
It is a fight that Alvarez has been wanting ever since the loss in their first meeting, believing that he made some mistakes in that bout that lead to his demise.
“I made some fundamental mistakes against Nick, and credit to him, he took full advantage. That won’t happen this time. I still believe I am a better fighter than he is and I plan to prove it this time.”
Also appearing on the card is Bodog Fight women’s 135-pound champion Tara LaRosa. She will drop down to 125-pounds to take on Minnesota’s Cody Welchlin, who nearly upset Japanese sensation Megumi Fuji. Welchlin would like nothing more than to beat LaRosa, who is returning to Evansville, where she began her stellar MMA career in 2002.
Other Bodog Fighters on the card include Mike Brown and Eben Oroz, who will square off in lightweight action, and crowd-pleaser Dan Hornbuckle, who faces Courtney Ray. Ray is looking to avenge his only loss in the last three years against Hornbuckle, who holds the Hook n Shoot welterweight title.
