UFC president Dana White has long said that he would love to have Nick Diaz in the UFC if he would just play the promotional game just a little bit.

Well, after a couple false starts that got him pulled from the UFC 137 title challenge of Georges St-Pierre, Diaz this week has been acting on his best behavior, meeting the promotional obligations for his main event fight with BJ Penn.

“They did bring me down an hour early. I don’t know if that was a change of plans or if that was on account of me,” Diaz jested at Thursday’s UFC 137 pre-fight press conference. “I would have loved to have been at the last press conference had I been able to make it.”

  • Every time I see this guy give an interview I just think it could be a promotional nightmare if hes champion because he is so bad at it. But then again I guess its not worse than Anderson Silva who apparently cant speak English at all.

I like Nick more now than I did before. As much as I love BJ Penn and have for years, I think we’re going to see Nick prove that he deserves a title shot. I wish it were 5 rounds but I don’t see this thing going more than 2, unless they show too much respect for each other and don’t engage as much as 2 fighters who despise each other

As far as I am concerned I want to see great fighters. Who cares if they are good at interviews.

Yeah he is pretty bad at public speaking but who really cares what he has to say. Skip the press b.s. and get to leather throwing. I think Nick Diaz is going to be a major force in the UFC this time around. I doubt we’ll see a lackluster fight between Diaz and Penn. I believe it will be interesting to see if Diaz “taunts” Penn at all considering he has so much respect for him. I’m very excited about this match up. I love Penn and Diaz as fighters but I don’t think were going to see Penn licking blood off his gloves on Saturday night.

I concur Towers! Diaz is one of the most entertaining fighters, who cares if he interviews bad. Diaz is good for the sport, and I hope he and BJ put on a great show Saturday.

diaz at least has a good point when he says that the promo BS gets in the way of his training and he would rather stay focused on training vs. getting caught up in all the BS interviews

gonna be a great fight for sure… i dont even know who i want to win. i think it all depends on bj.. if he comes to fight he will come out on top. if he doesnt show up to fight then diaz will take it.
either way i dont really see either fighter finishing the other.
