There was talk this weekend that UFC Heavyweight Jeff Monson wanted to get in one more fight before getting a shot at the title in the UFC Heavyweight division. Not so according to Monson.

“I think where this all started was with a comment I made after the fight. I said that I thought the UFC would rematch Sylvia and Arlovski before I got a shot at the title…” Monson told MMAWeekly. “I do want a title shot and I feel I am ready.” Monson said.

Monson looks forward to facing either heavyweight for the title, a title now held by Tim Sylvia. “He’s tough (Sylvia) and he shows great reach and power. He’s a very tough guy. If the fight goes to the ground, it’s over. Every fight that goes to the ground I usually finish.” Monson said.

The man they call the “Snowman” said he wasn’t really happy with his performance this weekend. “It’s tough because stylistically we are very similar so it’s tough to finish a guy like him (Pay de Pano). Bottom line I’m ready for a title shot and if that is what the UFC gives me I will be ready.” Monson improves his record to 21-5 in MMA and will sit back and see if a rematch between Arlovski and Sylvia is in order, or if Monson gets a title shot.
