MMAWeekly Radio returns for Wednesday’s show with UFC on Fuel fighter Stipe Miocic, UFC on FX’s Ian McCall, Ken Pavia and lots of debate about the proposed Condit vs. Diaz rematch.

Stipe Miocic talks to the radio show about his upcoming fight against Phil De Fries and how he dreams of one day meeting one of his idols, Mirko Cro Cop.

Ian McCall joins the show to discuss his fight coming up with Demetrious Johnson and finally getting his shot in the UFC.

Ken Pavia talks about his role in the new Super Fight League, how MMA is perceived in India, and reaction to recent comments by UFC President Dana White.

The debate topics today focus a lot around the recent reports about a possible Condit vs. Diaz rematch:

– Carlos Condit and Nick Diaz have agreed in principle to a rematch. Good idea or bad idea?
– Does this set a precedent when it comes to agreeing or disagreeing with a decision regarding a rematch?
– How does a rematch between Condit and Diaz go?
– Both Renan Barao and Dustin Poirier won at UFC 143. Who do you believe will get a title shot first?
– Ben Askren will face Douglas Lima in April. How good of a prospect is Askren? Should he consider a move to the UFC?
– UFC on FX 2 and Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey same weekend…good idea or bad idea?

This is MMAWeekly Radio for Wednesday, Feb 8

Damon, listened to your show for the first time today. That was some pretty biased commentary bro. Won’t waste my time with that nonsense again. You are the press, you are suppose to be like Switzerland. What is all this Gecko crap btw, are you referring to Diaz?

  • It was a joke on Twitter that’s all. And the radio show is where I put my opinions and debate topics. My writing is separate from the show.

Ronnie, you are the ultimate hypocrite. The media is supposed to be biased? You were jerkin your wang about how Rogan called it for Diaz. Last time I checked Rogan is media dumbass.

    Stop cryin about your boy

  • i don’t think a dangerous precedent has been set. i don’t believe a precedent has been indelibly engraved into the sport’s decision-making processes when it comes to rematches.

grievances redressed via social media are far from distant. recently, the susan g. komen foundation defunded planned parenthood and then abruptly, reversed its decision. as a result karen handel – the organization’s now former senior vp of policy – has resigned. social media facilitates instant grassroots organization without the age-old, antiquated process of petitions.

also, your show incorrectly stated that only a big name fighter could curry such a favor in lobbying for a rematch. wrong, again. think leonard garcia vs. nam pham. both of these fighters will never see a pay-per-view card yet dana white and the fans made this rematch happen.

just a few thoughts to consider before panning the condit vs. diaz ii fight before it ever materializes.
