MMARankings_Photo-Khabib-Kennedy-WerdumThe updated MMAWeekly.com World MMA Rankings were released on Thursday, May 1. This system ranks the Top 10 MMA fighters from across the world in each of the seven most widely accepted men’s weight classes and the Top 10 pound-for-pound women fighters.

Taken into consideration are a fighter’s performance in addition to win-loss record, head-to-head and common opponents, difficulty of opponents, and numerous other factors in what is the most comprehensive rankings system in the sport.

Fighters who are currently serving drug-related suspensions are not eligible for Top 10 consideration until they have fought one time after the completion of their suspension.

Fighters must also have competed within the past 12 months in order to be eligible for Top 10 consideration unless they have a bout scheduled within a reasonable time frame.

Note: Dominick Cruz, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, and Cat Zingano are ineligible for consideration because they haven’t fought in more than a year. Georges St-Pierre, Martin Kampmann, and Nick Diaz are not eligible they have taken a leave of absence from fighting. Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva is currently serving a drug-related suspension and is also ineligible.

Ok…Silva, Condit, Grant shouldn’t be even ranked – knowing how long they are/will still be out. Tate is deffy not top 10 female fighter, How Elliot moved up after losing? How Browne didn’t drop after losing? How Bader moved to top 10 without a fight? So many questions about things that make no sense…

    • TheCerealKiller

Name one guy in HW below Browne that should be above him? You can’t.

      • Seth

Coz that division sucks. But he lost and since rankings works BASED ON WIN/LOSE column, with L in his recent outing he should drop. But we know that rankings are Fd up to begin with.

        • TheCerealKiller

Ok, Nobody but Cain has less losses than Browne. I do agree with most of the other ranking mysteries that you named, but not Browne. You can’t drop someone below people he recently beat because he lost to a guy that was ranked above him.

  • joe c

    Rumble should be ranked!

  • julian moran

Why are Johnson and Davis not ranked?

  • MuayThaiFood

This is laughable. I’m assuming Phil Davis was number 5 and then gets beat by Johnson, now he’s not even ranked. Johnson, meanwhile doesn’t even get a spot in the rankings but Ryan Bader moves up.

  • drkdisciple

How come rumble johnson is not on this top ten? What is Myles Jury doing on this top ten list? Do the mma weekly writers really think that he is better then Cerrone, Dos Anjos, Miller or Barboza?

  • Hansa

    Say WHAAAAAAAAAT!!!!

    HW- Where is Big Country??
LHW- Rashad Evans ranked #3 and Rumble not even in top10??
MW- Belfort should be #2 and Machida #3. Silva sadly must be dropped to #4.

    And Where is Cowboy Cerrone????????????

PS: I’m REALLY happy to see that Phil Davies is out of the top10. He is BORING and AWFUL.

  • shakejunt

everyone else pretty much covered it. rumble and phil davis need to be ranked. both guys are above bader for sure. manuwa should not be listed. shogun probably shouldn’t either.

  • Maddawgmar

Still how is Rockhold lower than Kennedy and Jacare? He beat both of the convincingly. And how is Jacare over Machida? Who has Jacare beat? Camozzi and Okami… Neither is that impressive for a top 5 ranking.

    • julian moran

Okami was ranked higher when Jacare beat him. Rockhold got koed recently.

  • julian moran

Rockhold vs Mousasi, make it happen.

    • julian moran

      Mousasi is top 5.

  • Jonathan Parr

Ryan Bader in a top 10 list with no Rumble Johnson, gave me my first good laugh of the day. I wasted time reading this.
