Ronda Rousey - UFC Women's ChampionThe updated MMAWeekly.com World MMA Rankings were released on Wednesday, Feb. 27. This system ranks the Top 10 MMA fighters from across the world in each of the seven most widely accepted men’s weight classes and the Top 10 pound-for-pound women fighters.

Taken into consideration are a fighter’s performance in addition to win-loss record, head-to-head and common opponents, difficulty of opponents, and numerous other factors in what is the most comprehensive rankings system in the sport.

Fighters who are currently serving drug-related suspensions are not eligible for Top 10 consideration until they have fought one time after the completion of their suspension.

Fighters must also have competed within the past 12 months in order to be eligible for Top 10 consideration unless they have a bout scheduled within a reasonable time frame.

Notes: Brian Bowles and Dominick Cruz are ineligible for consideration because they haven’t fought in more than a year.

Suspension or not Cyborg is the top female fighter Ronda dropped weight classes to avoid her and now hides behind Dana White

    • http://www.facebook.com/josedennis.villegas Jose Dennis Villegas

I think you are retarded Brian..Cyborg cheated by using steroids so how can she rank anywhere

      • Joey

Worst. Argument. Ever. Overeem, Belfort, Barnett are all ranked and have been tested positive for banned substance, should they not be ranked? Sonnen is fighting for a the 205 belt and would be ranked at 185 if he was still in that division and he tested positive and is now on TRT, should he not be ranked either?

        • http://www.MMAWeekly.com/ Ken Pishna – MMAWeekly

Cyborg isn’t currently eligible to be ranked as she has been inactive for more than a year and hasn’t fought yet since her suspension. Once she fights for Invicta on April 5, she will again be eligible for consideration.

          • http://www.CombatScienceMMA.com/ CombatScienceMMA

You just schooled everyone. I love it! lol

        • Andrew

Overeem never tested positive for a banned substance, need to do some fact checking buddy. He had really testosterone levels but no substance was found in his system. Also Sonnen never tested positive for a banned substance either, he has abnormal levels due to his TRT. Additionally Women abusing roids is a bigger advantage to them then it is for men. Women’s bodies naturally do not produce enough testosterone to get as big as Cyborg was, she had the testosterone levels of some smaller MALES. Which gave her a clear advantage over the non-cheating females.

        • Michael Dixon

          TRT is legal.

          • justin_e

Not exactly, but it might as well be. Friggin BS.

    • Andrew

Do not understand the fanboyism for Cyborg. She has terrible technique and can’t win a fight against a wet paper bag without her roids. Rousey did not drop to 135 to avoid Cyborg, her goal weight class was always 135, she just was cutting weight properly rather than just dropping the water and fighting partially dehydrated.

      • justin_e

And you know she can’t beat a wet paper bag without the roids how? I do not approve of her steriod use, but it is no worse than Hendo, Sonnen, and anyone else receiving TRT. Why can’t she get an exemption? Rousey is killing herself to make 135. She sure as hell is scarred to fight Cyborg at 140 or 145. Talk about she can ony eat 1 meal of low calorie s*** a day and her “nutritionist” wants her to fast on Sundays. That is not proper diet for an athlete of her caliber, or anyone else. She is stretching BIG TIME to make 135. That said…I’m a fan of her fighting.

  • Chucked.

I don’t think that I’ve had breakfast yet I think I should ale me some eggs and peanut butter sandwich then i shall go to work

  • Oscar Sanchez

no nick diaz? i stoped reading after welter ……(speechless)

    • http://www.MMAWeekly.com/ Ken Pishna – MMAWeekly

Nick Diaz is not currently eligible. He was on suspension and doesn’t become eligible until he fights again. Once he fights GSP, he can then again be ranked.

      • Michael Dixon

Really? That’s how it works. That’s ridiculous.

        • kooolout

how is that not fair… GSP was taken out of the rankings when he was still champion because he was out for over a year

          • http://www.facebook.com/benjamin.beighle Benjamin Beighle

makes no sense…. GSP has a title fight with a non-ranked fighter…. same w Jon Jones. just rank the top fighters, who care about the rules, i wanna see if its a #1 vs a #3 or a #11

    • Nick

“Fighters who are currently serving drug-related suspensions are not eligible for Top 10 consideration until they have fought one time after the completion of their suspension.”

    • http://www.mmamadman.com/ Chase Brian Beebe

oscar are you new to mma? mmaweekly has been banning suspended fighters from the top 10 since 2006, nothings new about that

      • Donny

Read the article. unless they have a bout scheduled within a reasonable time frame! Diaz fights in 3 weeks!

        • kyle

You’re wrong donny any suspended fighters aren’t eligible till after they’ve fought. Dummy.

    • Cptmats

well…that’s because Diaz is a no skill bitch !

  • Mark McDowall

How did Liz Carmouche drop in the rankings? She was closer to finishing Rousey than anyone before her.

  • http://www.21centurysuccess.com/ Ryan Bruno

I think that Ronda deserves her spot she’s been beating decent competition and doing it quickly. I really hope that the Cyborg fight happens within the next two years. Such an interesting match up.

  • Devin

Wow Kinda shocked by these rankings, no cyborg, no nick diaz etc… weird!

  • remote

Deep, Smack, and Jewelz have been around forever in woman’s Emma!! They are all Asian organizations. Just like Pride the ufc will make them seem non existent. Its like Rousey is the first womens mma fighter and we all just witnessed the first ever sanctioned womens match….What a JOKE!

  • Eric

Where’s Travis Browne??? Didn’t he KO Struve in the first round and yet Struve is #9 on the list!!!

  • Michael Dixon

    WELTERWEIGHT DIVISION (170-pound limit)
    1. Georges St-Pierre (1)
    2. Johny Hendricks (2)
    3. Carlos Condit (3)
    4. Martin Kampmann (4)
    5. Jake Ellenberger (5)
    6. Rory MacDonald (6)
    7. Demian Maia (n/a)
    8. Robbie Lawler (n/a)
    9. Josh Koscheck (7)
    10. Jon Fitch (8)

WTF Diaz is not in the top 10 ?

    • Michael Dixon

      Ken Pishna – MMAWeekly
Nick Diaz is not currently eligible. He was on suspension and doesn’t become eligible until he fights again. Once he fights GSP, he can then again be ranked.

  • Chargerchris

I think Marloes Coenen is biggest threat to Rousey in the 135 division yet she is ranked 6th. These 2 will definitely fight within the next year.

  • Chargerchris

I definitely think Cyborg will beat Ronda but they are clearly not the same weight class. Cyborg is way too big to make 135 and her fighting Rousey would be the equivalent of Aldo facing GSP. Aldo is extremely talented but he would be at an extreme power disadvantage. Just like if Rousey fought Cyborg. The difference is Rousey won’t shut her mouth. Just because they are the same gender doesn’t meanthey should fight. Rousey is very technical but she would be overpowered and she knows it.

  • Chargerchris

Man that middleweight division is so weak! Silva vs Belfort 2 is the best fight as long as Vitor doesn’t take a front kick to the chin.
Cool to see Lawler get some love at WW though. Pretty cool guy the couple times I have ran into him at MMA events.

  • Rhys Pect

Where the f**** is Nick Diaz in the 170 rankings? Robbie Lawler? Martin Kampmann? Jake Ellenberger? Josh Koschek? WTF? In Strikeforce Nick was the Pound for Pound king. Thiis is stupid

  • Chargerchris

Cyborg is too big and strong for Rousey. They are definitely in different weight classes and the only reason them not fighting enrages people is because Dana and Rousey won’t stop talking junk. This fight should not happen because these women are obviously not the same size and if Rousey wants this to go away she has to stop talking trash with her secret admirer Dana.

  • Chargerchris

Dana used to be the best thing that ever happened to MMA but now he is getting greedy and he is now messing with the integrity of the sport he once loved.
