MMA Top 10 World RankingsThe latest MMAWeekly.com World MMA Rankings were released on Wednesday, January 5. This system ranks the Top 10 MMA fighters from all across the world in each of the seven most widely accepted weight classes.

Taken into consideration are a fighter’s performance in addition to his win-loss record, head-to-head and common opponents, difficulty of opponents, and numerous other factors in what is the most comprehensive rankings system in the sport.

Fighters who are currently serving drug-related suspensions are not eligible for Top 10 consideration until they have fought one time after the completion of their suspension.

Can someone explain to me why BJ Penn does not reside in either LW or WW. just because he was beat by the same guy doesn’t mean he isn’t better than 90% of the other people in the division. How is Ken-Flo above him. Aoki’s special attraction match was a joke.

  • mmawpg

that was what i was thinking also whers is BJ. These rankings are a joke.

B.J. is not currently eligible at lightweight, if he were, he would be ranked in that class. He made the move to welterweight and is there for at least the next fight or two.

    Here is B.J.’s welterweight record:
    W – Matt Hughes – 2010
    L – Georges St-Pierre – 2009
    L – Matt Hughes – 2006
    L – Georges St-Pierre – 2006
    W – Duane Ludwig – 2004
    W – Matt Hughes – 2004

Where would you rank him at WW?

How dare you bring facts and figures into an argument about MMA rankings….

      LOL

  • FLLC01

JOKE, they put a contender in 185 (Robbie L) before the champion of SF (Jacare)?!?!?

  • http://www.twitter.com/uncanny390 uncanny390

I have to disagree with you there. Just because someone is the champion, doesn’t mean they are the best in their weight class. It can all depend on their path to the title. If you want to complain about Lawler being above the champion, you have to complain about Fedor being above the champion as well.

I think that Mauricio Rua is ranked too high.

    • wonggfan

      I agree with champion =/= #1 part.

Who, other than Shogun, do you think should be #1?

  • cacti45

Does Gamburyan get to live off of that 1 in against Brown forever?

Does Brown get to live off the Faber wins forever? Whens the last time he’s beat anybody relevant?

Hioki just kicked the shit out of Sandro and he’s #7?

    Makes sense

    *rolls eyes*

    • wonggfan

      Go ask Gabe Gonzaga.

He was ranked in the top 10 for more than a year after his win over Cro Cop.

  • therealmo

how does chad mendes jump to #5 when he didnt even fight

  • wonggfan

Why is Randy still in the top 10 while Fejao, King Mo, and Mousasi are not?

Ken Pishna: You are absolutely 100% RIGHT!!! BJ lost 2 fights to a smaller & less skilled guy, he shouldnt have & his last WIN @ LW was in 2009 – time for you people to start doing some research b4 u cry foul over a guy who hasnt won a LW fight since 2009. Its called get off BJ nuts you F@GS!!! As for BJ in WW – your saying BJ should be in the top 10 b/c….. he KTFO of a washed up Matt Hughes who hasnt fought any real contender since Alves beat the fuck out of him in 2008. BJ’s record @ WW as mentioned above is….. an impressive 3-3 – Yeah what was MMAWeekly thinking not putting BJ #1 @ LW & WW?!? Give me a break, idiots! Waaa Waaa Waaa BJ never made the top 10 list Waaa!!!

uncanny390: You wouldnt put Rua #1?!? Who else would you put there?!? He only beat Lyoto 2X – but was only credited for one & he KO’s Lyoto who was almost unhitable. I think jon Jones will be #1 before 2012 & I’m not sure if anyone will be able to beat him, Rua included. Would be great to see, as for Bader Vs Jones – Bader is FUCT!!!
