The updated MMAWeekly.com World MMA Rankings were released on Wednesday, Sept. 21. This system ranks the Top 10 MMA fighters from across the world in each of the seven most widely accepted men’s weight classes and the Top 10 pound-for-pound women fighters.

Taken into consideration are a fighter’s performance in addition to win-loss record, head-to-head and common opponents, difficulty of opponents, and numerous other factors in what is the most comprehensive rankings system in the sport.

Fighters who are currently serving drug-related suspensions are not eligible for Top 10 consideration until they have fought one time after the completion of their suspension.

I LOVE IT WHEN PEOPLE COMPLAIN.
in hw i would switch nog and corimier, and i also think barnett is up way to high.

lhw forrest should still be there and what about feijao?

mw i would of added rockhold in and bisping is ranked way too high

ww almost dead on except for diego i would put rick story

lw gil number 1 idk, siver should not be there i think wiman kicked his ass good, i would put kawajiri or pettis in instead

fw koch and hominick way too high, nunes too low and tysyon griffin should be there too

bw close to dead on except mizugaki should be 10 not mcdonald

Guys . . . I love your site but I have a problem with the rankings (and I love the rankings). I’ve mentioned before (and do so again now) . . . PLEASE have the fighter’s rank from the last set of rankings next to their newest ranking. Yes, Barnett is up . . . but from where? Every other ranking system has this . . . PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add this to your rankings! Many thanks, Chris

Really done very well. Only complaints werdum being so high up on the list in the HW. Sho gun should be much lower after his last outing and Lyoto should be at the bottom of the list if on it at all. Bisping that high on the list really? Dude is a chump (makes me wish I could fight) and we will all get to see it when Miller destroys him. Shields should no longer be on the list a the most over rated fighter in the UFC. He couldn’t hold BJ PENNS jock strap and you have him above him.Why even put Diego on the list? but the rest I will let slide thanks again. Chris

      Are you on drugs?

Shogun should be lower? You mean, he should be ranked lower than Rampage?????

Shogun killed Forrest…I just don’t understand.

Lyoto killed Rashad and beat Rampages (it was a shit decision). MMAWEEKLY honors the decision, however, and ranks Lyoto as #5 when he should be #3.

      You are a dumb noob.

These rankings are just awful. Barnett at 4? Bisping at 4? Diaz at 3??? Hominick at 4? Poirier at 5?

Also, people should disregard pretty much everything myappsaddme typed because he obviously doesn’t have much of a clue about anything.

Many surprises this time around. I will say I’m quite surprised to see Bigfoot taken off the list. Big Nog knocks out some overrated guy, and he get’s in there? And why is Cormier at the bottom? I would think he deserves to be higher than Mir and Carwin, and maybe even Werdum. Shane Carwin is a on two-fight losing streak. Cormier just destroyed Bigfoot, and he’s undefeated? Hmmm. OK. And as far as Josh Barnett moving up to top 5, I think that’s fair. Sure he beat guys like Brett Rogers and Sergei, but look at the way he beat them. The man had his way with them. He made it look REAL easy.

Middleweight rankings are fine, but my one compliant has always been Bisping. I think Stann is better than him. Should be Brian above Michael. Everything else seems fine. Nice to see Belcher get in there as well.

Welterweight top 10 also seems fine. Good to see Ellenberger move up. After what he did to Shields, he deserves it!

I’m also glad you guys removed Forrest from the rankings. Not only for the drubbing he suffered at the hands of Shogun, but also for his lack of desire as of late. The guy doesn’t even seem like he wants to fight anymore, or cares to? I have a feeling that played a role in that decision. LOL

Also cool to see Mo back in there.

MMAWeekly once again proves to be the best when it comes to MMA rankings.
    Thank you.

Sergei doesn’t get the respect that he deserves. He lost to Barnett and I’ve been talking shit on his wrestling skills forever now. But he is not a can. Beating him would improve anyone’s resume.
