World MMA Top 10 RankingsThe updated World MMA Rankings were released on Wednesday, May 23. This system ranks the Top 10 MMA fighters from across the world in each of the seven most widely accepted men’s weight classes and the Top 10 pound-for-pound women fighters.

Taken into consideration are a fighter’s performance in addition to win-loss record, head-to-head and common opponents, difficulty of opponents, and numerous other factors in what is the most comprehensive rankings system in the sport.

Fighters who are currently serving drug-related suspensions are not eligible for Top 10 consideration until they have fought one time after the completion of their suspension.

Fighters must also have competed within the past 12 months in order to be eligible for Top 10 consideration unless they have a bout scheduled within a reasonable time frame.

  • Let the complaining begin

  • Mario

    I have one question

Why are Masakatsu Ueda and Marlon Sandro still ranked when they both lost fights recently in Bellator?

This is honestly the first time I’ve seen a fighter stay ranked even after losing. Especially to a mediocre fighter? I just don’t get it.

Sucks if you’re Travis Marx and Daniel Straus 😛

    • adam1848

      Good question…

  • zacharydetal

Yushin Okami is still ranked but Hector Lombard isn’t. I don’t understand

  • Seems to me the rankings show a lot of new blood and that’s good for MMA.
I was surprised to see Shane Carwin still ranked. It seems like years since he fought but it was last June. He won’t be ranked next month.

  • emmettbarnacle

to be 10 after beating old mike Kyle I don’t think so

    • Cptmats

Your kinda right, he shouldn’t be 10th. Cause Fejio could beat half the guys above him.

  • Not really complaining I agree with stats for most part but tate beat kaufman rousey beats tate but kaufman number 1 rousey number 2, and hector lombard not even in top 10, ok so I guess I am complaining lol, I agree daniel straus should be on there over marlon sandro

  • And will some one please tell me who the hell is erik koch how is he in top 10 and how did he get a title shot, who has he fought loss to chad mendez and dec over brookins don’t worry ill wait…….

  • johnnylopes

Koch should be undefeated, Mendes held him down n also got KOd but Aldo… no1 wants to see team Alpha Male fail anymoree… Raphael Assuncao was one of the most highly talked about guys till Koch beat em… Brookins is also going to be in title contention some day, he lost by gettin out grinded (jus like Mendes did to Koch) losing by gettin out wrestled by team Alpha Male does not shoot you to the bottom of the ladder… Koch is prob gonna lose v Aldo but who is he gonna fight.. Obv cant fight Hioki (2) or Sandroo (8) or Curran (7)…. Zombie n Poirer jus fought last week.. n Mendes cant strike wit Aldo… Koch has a better chance then all the guys i jus named and there is no1 else for Aldo to fight unless he wants to wait for Zombie or they sign Hioki… you tard

  • How can the girl with the belt be ranked #2?

    • alhmiel

Rousey has zero stand up-ZERO STAND-UP. Cyborg destroys Rousey as I will bet $250,000 in Vegas if the odds are even 2-1 in Rousey’s favor(won’t happen). Cyborg the guy will destroy the pretty Ronda. What I hear from my guys in Vegas Cyborg would be a 5-1 favorite if she has a tune up fight before meeting the overrated Rousey.

    • alhmiel

IF Josh Thompson fought Melendez every fight he would be a top 5 fighter. but the Punk seems to fade into mediocrity and averageness most fights,

  • And, did George St. Pierre retire from the Welterweight division?

    • Cptmats

George hasn’t fought in over a year therefore does not qualify to be ranked.
Anyone know why Melendez and Thompson fought to a draw(should have been) Saturday night and Melendez is ranked #3(pffft) and Thompson isn’t even top ten ?

      • I would still keep him in the mix … Conduit, I think would agree. Your thoughts on Thompson is more valid than mine, though, because I would have #3Thompson, #4Maynard, and #5Melendez.

  • Where the F@#% is cowboy cerrone in this lightweight mix, he’s top ten for sure, common MMA weekly who does your rankings!!!!!!!!

    • alhmiel

Cerrone is average and an average Nate Diaz beat the hell out of that fake cowboy cerrone.

      • RubeKegal

I would have Cerrone at #10 and Melendez out of top 10. I can’t really see an argument for Cerrone over the guys ahead of him at this point.

  • alhmiel

You realize Cormier beats Jon Jones at a 230 lb weight.

    • RubeKegal

Too stupid to even reply to but Jon Jones would castrate Cormier.

      • Cptmats

How do you figure ? Jones has showed holes in his striking against Rashad and Machida. He was scared to death to stand with Rampage and there not much chance of him being able to take Cormier down. Styles make fights and Cormier vs Jones would be a good one IMO.

  • Why are we discussing Jon Jones at 230 pounds? He fights at 205.
You Jones haters are irrational and boring.
I bet Cormier would beat all the welterweights at 230 too! WTF?

    • Cptmats

“I bet Cormier would beat all the welterweights at 230 too! WTF?”
      Are you stupid ?
How many 230lb. WW you know of dumb ass? John Jones however walks around over 230lbs. and it should be obvious even to you that he is going to be HW eventually !

  • alhmiel

Jones will develop into a heavyweight and hold 235-240pounds easy. Cormier beats Jon Jones at say 235.
