Todashev-Ibragim-clean-jpgProfessional mixed martial artist Ibragim Todashev was shot and killed by an FBI agent in Orlando, Fla., on Wednesday after being questioned about his link to one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects.

Todashev was a 27-year-old Chechen-born Orlando resident and alleged acquaintance of Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the two brothers that carried out the Boston Marathon bombings that killed three people and wounded more than 260 others.

Todashev was 1-0 as a professional fighter.  He defeated Bradford May by guillotine choke in the first round on July 27, 2012, in the Florida-based Real Fighting Championships promotion.

The shooting occurred just after midnight in an apartment complex in Orlando.  An FBI agent, two Massachusetts State troopers and other law enforcement officers were interviewing Todashev when an altercation erupted.

Law enforcement officials told the Associated Press that Todashev lunged at the agent with a knife.  The agent sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Todashev met Tamerlan Tsarnaev in Boston through mixed martial arts, according to friend Khusen Taramov.

“They met a few times because (Todashev) was an MMA fighter and (Tsarnaev) was a boxer,” Taramov told WKMG-TV. “They just knew each other. That’s it.”

According to NBC News, Todashev was not suspected to have played a role in the Boston Marathon bombings, but was about to sign a confession to “playing a role” in an unsolved triple murder case in which three men were discovered, throats slit and bodies covered in marijuana, in an apartment in Waltham, Mass., when the confrontation occurred.

Four days after the Boston Marathon bombings, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, was killed in a shootout with police in Watertown, Mass.  His younger brother, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, was arrested the following day and charged in connection with the bombings.

Props to the fighter that landed the left hook to this guy’s nose.

    • Kris-tyahn

Could have been a nasty knee, but I completely concur with your comment!

  • Usmc8408

Well that’s one way to end an interview.

    • kbroesq

The headline makes it sound like they just interviewed the guy and decided to shoot him after the interview, which would be much more funny.

MMA Weekly, maybe put something like: “…after altercation,” in the headline.

  • Terrorists Killer

Why in the hell are you posting this
S*** as MMA news. That f@$ker was a terrorist and he deserved to be where he’s at now, Hell!

    • El Gvapo

Where does it say he’s a terrorist?

  • Cereal Killer

He had 1 fight almost a year ago. Do not associate him with MMA. He was not a professional fighter.

  • Ramon

There is no proof that he was vinculated with the attack lets be respectull and hope that the police is working dutifully and with the seriousness this case deserves.

    • Cereal Killer

Go read the report! He was going to sign a confession of involvement in a double homicide, but freaked out and attacked the officer with a knife. Another attempted murder. The officer shot and killed him. Pulling out a big word like “vinculated” and making a retarded comment is priceless. Please leave the country at your earliest convenience.

Sheep. You probably think Ronda Rousey is sexy too. GAY SHEEP!

        • Cptmats

“Go read the report! He was going to sign a confession of involvement in a double homicide, but freaked out and attacked the officer with a knife. Another attempted murder.”

        Yeh….that sounds believable

        • Cereal Killer

          Get out your troll repellent!

      • Kris-tyahn

“go read the report” maybe you should re-read it, I believe it says triple murder & not double, just sayin’

  • Ozzo

Cops planted the knife and the fighter was about to sign a confession before getting shot up? Set up. For what though?

    • Cptmats

Yup, sounds like bull s*** to me ?

    • Cereal Killer

      Troll.

      • Cptmats

        look who’s talking !

  • Milosc

    Dead men tell no tales..

I’d hate to be the guy who took pictures of all those Blackwater guys with the ‘large black nylon backpacks’..

  • Jakben Imbel

Since when do people that are ‘about to sign a confession’ do so at their residential apartment? Isn’t that usually done in a controlled environment, such as a police station, or some other place ‘in custody’ where the feds could control the situation, i.e. make sure the guy doesn’t have a knife? And do you seriously think the feds couldn’t have taken down one guy with a knife? C’mon, that’s basic self defense.. if nothing else, shoot him in the leg, not shoot to kill. There is more to this story, I think. Think people.. Don’t be a sheep.

    And Rhonda is kinda hot…

    Wake Up.

  • Cereal Eater.

THE POLICE SAID: He was about to sign a confession….the police say a lot of things. Like the FBI said they shot it out with the younger brother in the boat…but later said he had no weapon….I’m all for shooting at the kid but lets at least be honest about the circumstances.

    erupted.

he was being interview at midnight had more than half a dozen government enforcement officers interviewing him and he happened to grab a knife and lunge at them?

    Sounds abit fishy to me
if he was involved justice was served!

  • sheepdieblind

Bull f***** s*** story, Thhere’s to many holes in this. since when is an interrogation held in someones home.

  • Just a guy

One does not shoot to wound, nor does one shoot to kill in law enforcement. You shoot to incapacitate the aggressor, to stop an imminent threat. Now the fact that incapacitating usually means death is a practical distinction not a legal or tactical one. If an officer or agent feels that lethal force is needed, multiple shots at center of mass is the standard, anything else would be out of policy and not in good judgement. Shooting the leg, or arm is foolish as it does not guarantee that an attack will stop and puts the officer or others at risk and from a practical standpoint is foolish as they are difficult, off angle and often moving in multiple planes. That shit is for TV. The circumstances that warrant this type of use of force occur within milliseconds. A man with a knife especially a trained athlete/fighter with the element of surprise (he knows he is going to attack, his victims probably don’t) is a very dangerous man. If you doubt this a good resource might be an old video called “Surviving Edged Weapons” which was made for law enforcement.

    Filthy terrorist scum.
