Adam Smith, who faced Dewey Cooper at the Strikeforce at the Mansion event in Beverly Hills, Calif. this past Saturday night, has been fined and suspended for testing positive for cocaine and marijuana according to Bill Douglas, a representative of the California State Athletic Commission.
He has been fined a total $1,500 and his suspension period runs from the conclusion of the bout on Sept. 29, 2007 through June 25, 2008.
The loss at the Playboy Mansion was not only the second consecutive loss for Smith, but also the second straight loss at the hands of Cooper. The two first met at the Palace Fighting Championship this past July in Lemoore, Calif.
According to Douglas, all 23 of the other fighters that competed on the Strikeforce event tested clean for drugs of abuse. All anabolic agent/masking agent test results are still pending.
