Mike King-UFCThe Ultimate Fighter 19 middleweight Mike King has tested positive for performance enhancing drugs following his official Octagon debut.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship on Wednesday revealed that King tested positive for nandrolone, an anabolic steroid and banned substance, following his bout against Cathal Pendred at UFC Fight Night Dublin on July 19 in Ireland.

There is not an independent regulatory body in Ireland, so the UFC self-regulated the event. The promotion handed King a nine-month suspension and the stipulation that he must pass a drug test before he receives clearance to fight again.

King lost the fight to Pendred, but had found some solace in the fact that they earned Fight of the Night honors, which was accompanied by a $50,000 bonus for each fighter. Even that now is gone, however, as King had to forfeit the bonus because of the failed drug test.

“UFC middleweight Mike King tested positive for nandrolone following his bout against Cathal Pendred at UFC Fight Night Dublin: McGregor vs. Brandao on July 19, 2014,” read the UFC’s statement.

“He was informed that his positive test violated the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy and Promotional Agreement with Zuffa, LLC. The UFC has a strict, consistent policy against the use of any illegal and/or performance-enhancing drugs, stimulants or masking agents by our athletes. He agreed to serve a 9-month suspension retroactive to the event and must pass a drug test before receiving clearance to compete again. He will forfeit his $50,000 Fight of the Night bonus.”

Although UFC officials had not confirmed it at the time of publication, King issued a statement to MMAFighting.com on Wednesday, adding that the company had terminated his contract.

This crap is getting out of hand…

But what gets me is why does he get cut….and Vitor, for failing a second test for a PED in some peoples books, gets a title shot??? Figure that one out??

    • mw

Bc this guy absolutely sucks and has no fans anyway.

      • oneinchpunch

He has fans. Did you not watch his fight against pendred? Also he doesn’t suck at all. He did well on the show, take away the horrendous eye poke and he would have went on In the show. I hate when people say someone in the ufc sucks. The reason that he got cut and vitor didn’t is simple…$$$$$$$$

        • Muaythai4life

it’s not just Vitor that didn’t get cut. It’s also Robert Drysdale, who tested positive a second time for PEDs and no word on him losing his contract. To make matters even worse, Drysdale wasn’t even on a televised card. He was just on the bottom of the undercard. Things that make you go “Hmmmm”

bryan caraway silently thinks to himself “how can i end up with this performance bonus in my pocket again?”

  • Darren Serati

too bad, I liked him on the show.

  • TheCerealKiller

Good! I personally believe it should be a life ban on the first positive test. A cheater is always a cheater. No honor.

    • Mike mckinney

And the death penelty the first time a kid steals a candy bar from a store. Let be gone with all these cheating, stealing, bastards!!!

      • TheCerealKiller

These aren’t kids, they are adults that choose to cheat.

        • Mike mckinney

Lol, okay. If I take out the word kids and put 35yr old man does that change anything?

          • earlsimmons

ummmm yes it does. if your 35 and dont know stealing is wrong then I see nothing wrong with it. You liberals need to grow up your costing us tax payers waaaay to much money.

          • PaulieVegas

Are you kidding? It’s you conservatards and your “lock up everyone and throw away the key” attitude that’s costing all the money. Go back to watching Fox News and polishing your gun collection, troll.

          • earlsimmons

Lern to read kid. No one here was talking about locking people up for life. We were talking about the exact opposite with the death penalty. You libs want to let criminals walk the streets and if its bad enough then sit in prison for life where we have to pay the bill. I say death penalty for all and you eliminate both criminals on the streets and paying for criminals to sit in jail for life. Again saving us taxpayers money. Go watch the Ed Show you clown LOL.

          • AXE MURDERER

you are whats wrong with the world, I think somebody needs to go Fergason police on U

          • TheCerealKiller

Change death penalty to one month in jail, and I’m good with it!

  • Kryptonitekid

Good. F—ing clown.. I hope they clean this s–t up.. We need a Jose Canseco for MMA to just come out and name names.

  • talbot

Mark Bocek says that 90 percent of fighters are using. if that the case then the Sonnen, Silva, Belfort episodes are just the tip of the iceberg. I bet you are going to see some high profile guys test positive under these stricter guidelines.

    • Obi-Wan Granoli

totally will, i hope it gets cleaned up and we can watch some true athletes fight.

  • james j

This guy is an easy cut. Now he can take his Roids and be a bouncer or an amateur body builder. Good for him. The possibilities are endless.

  • DaRealNinoBrown

I say f**k it and let all the guys use steroids….how awesome would it be to see two roided out meat heads just go in the octagon and absolutely destroy each other.

    • james j

I could not agree with you more. Look how great baseball was when they were injecting Mexican lightning in their veins.
