A switch has been made to a couple of bantamweight bouts on upcoming UFC cards after an injury forced Mike Easton off the UFC on Fuel 3 show in May.

With Easton out, UFC officials have moved Jeff Hougland from UFC 148 over to UFC on Fuel 3 to face Yves Jabouin. Since Hougland has been moved over to UFC on Fuel 3, veteran fighter Ivan Menjivar will now shift into his spot and face Renan Barao at UFC 148.

“Menjivar is my new opponent at UFC 148,” wrote Barao via his Twitter account. “I know him.”

Fans were in a bit of an uproar after the fight between Barao and Hougland was made simply because Barao has been seen as a potential No. 1 contender in the UFC’s bantamweight division, while Hougland has only had one fight in the Octagon thus far in his short UFC career.

Barao will now instead face another veteran, and a very tough test at that, as Menjivar has reeled off three wins in a row in the UFC.

Meanwhile, Hougland will still make his second appearance in the UFC, it will just be a couple of months ahead of schedule as he faces Yves Jabouin at UFC on Fuel 3 on May 15 in Fairfax, Va.
