Miesha Tate will have to wait even longer for her shot at the Strikeforce 135lb women’s title.
The promotion’s top contender has been forced out of her scheduled title bout against Marloes Coenen due to a knee injury suffered in training and will be replaced by Liz Carmouche in the co-main event of next weekend’s card in Columbus, OH.
Undefeated in her pro MMA career, Liz Carmouche has appeared in Strikeforce twice before when she was an alternate in the one night tournament that Tate won to earn the title shot.
Carmouche also finished veteran fighter Jan Finney by TKO last November in a Strikeforce Challengers show.
The former Marine will face Coenen in a title bout with the 135lb belt on the line, in what will remain the co-main event for the show taking place in Columbus next weekend.
Dan Henderson faces Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante in the main event on the card with the light heavyweight title up for grabs.
