UFC-on-Fox-2-workouts-Michael-Bisping-164It’s been nearly four years since UFC middleweight Michael Bisping has fought on his home turf in Manchester, England, and it’s going to be a while longer.

Bisping was scheduled to fight Mark Munoz in the UFC Fight Night 30 main event on Oct. 26 at Phones 4u Arena in Manchester, but those plans unraveled on Friday when he had to withdraw from the bout due to an eye injury.

Munoz will remain in the headliner on Fox Sports 2, but will now welcome former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida to the 185-pound class. UFC officials announced the change.

While few details of Bisping’s injury were revealed on Friday, The Telegraph on Saturday reported that the British fighter could be out for up to six months.

Telegraph reporter Gareth Davies reported that the injury is a recurrence of the detached retina that Bisping suffered in his April bout with Alan Belcher, which he ironically won by technical decision after Belcher couldn’t continue due to Bisping accidentally poking him in the eye.

“Words cannot describe how sad I am having to withdraw from my fight,” Bisping wrote on Twitter on Saturday. “My sincere apologies to evry1 who bought tickets. I will be back soon.”

This sucks…I was looking forward to this fight. But , at the end of the day the fighters health is of the utmost importance.

Bisping would have lost anyway. He just can’t beat top fighters. They cut Okami but they keep this underachieving loud mouth.

If Bistink fought as well as he runs his mouth he would be champ. He’s got talent but I think he distracts himself with his trash talk. I wonder what would happen if you had a cage match between his mouth and his mma skills. Set it up Dana! Lol

I like trash talking, this sport needs diverse personalities. at least he’s one that comes to fight, not lay on top or dance around.

        • #1mmafan.

If you like trash talking then watch Jerry Springer. If you like mixed martial arts then watch any mma event.

          • onehitwonder

            thats to much trash.

        • TheCerealKiller

But he can’t backup his mouth.

I can’t understand all the “downs” on your comment. You just said the harsh truth. Bisping trash talks everybody, and says how he’s deserving a title shot because of what? His biggest win is against Stann.

      • TheCerealKiller

People hate me for saying what I think. Stann was a gift ranking, he didn’t deserve it. I want Bisping to get his wish and face Silva if he loses. Then feed him to every other top five fighter before he gets cut!

        • Lucas Freire

The fun fact is that no one appears to argument against what you said, just downvote the comment.
It is true indeed, he keeps himself relevant with wins over non-ranked guys. He has a 24-5 record, and what are his greatest wins? Belcher, Mayhem and Stann?

          • TheCerealKiller

Mayhem is another clown that deserves nothing.

    • get off the haterade

      • TheCerealKiller

There are two fighters that I can’t stand, Bisping and Diaz. Every time Bisping fights a top fighter, he loses! He runs his mouth about deserving a title, but hasn’t beaten anyone to earn it. It’s not like he hasn’t been given chances to earn it, he’s just not at that level.

        • thats exactly why anderson silva was calling out bisping and ducking weidman

  • fsunoles10

as much as i dont particularly like bisping i feel for em on this one, detached retina must suck pretty bad.
