Unfortunately, Miller lost to Benson Henderson and Guillard came up short against Joe Lauzon, so now they will face each other instead.
Guillard and Miller have verbally agreed to a match-up to pit the two lightweight contenders against one another in early 2012.
Sources close to the bout confirmed to MMAWeekly.com that the fighters have agreed to the match-up as of Thursday.
The date for the fight between Guillard and Miller is the only thing left to determine, but it’s likely that the bout will end up on one of the two cards in late January. Currently the UFC is filling slots for the UFC on FX card on Jan 20, as well as the rumored UFC on Fox 2 card on Jan 28.
Guillard vs. Miller would be a natural fit for either of those cards, but at this time no information was available on a set date for the match-up.
Both Guillard and Miller will look to get back into the thick of things when they meet in 2012, with a similar goal of fighting for the UFC lightweight title at some point in the near future.
Prior to his loss to Joe Lauzon at UFC 136, Guillard had racked up five wins in a row, while Miller had pulled off 7 consecutive victories until his fight with Benson Henderson.
MMAWeekly.com will have more information on an exact date for Guillard vs. Miller when it becomes available.
UPDATE: UFC officials have now confirmed the fight as the main event for UFC on FX taking place on Jan 20 currently rumored to take place in Nashville, Tenn.
MMAWeekly.com also confirmed with UFC officials that the main event fight between Guillard and Miller will be a three round fight.
