ICON: Mayhem vs. Giant

Honolulu, HI

By. Terry Harmon

It was a night that offered a new test for Jason “Mayhem” Miller and displayed some of the new talent in the ICON arena.

The middleweight Jason “Mayhem” Miller took just :46 of the first round to choke out his 370 lb. opponent Stefan Gamlin. Although this is Gamlin’s third fight, with all being losses by choke within the first minute, Miller showed great strength and dexterity in dealing with the big fella.

In other action, Anthony Torres made his return to fighting after a nearly 2-year layoff following his appearance on The Ultimate Fighter Season 2. Torres methodically took the fight to the ground, worked for the mount, then put enough pressure on his opponent with stiff punching to get the TKO referee stoppage over Jerry Hackney at 4:12 of the first round.

Torres, along with newcomer Tyson Nam, look to be big names and crowd favorites for the ICON Promotion. Tyson Nam, fighting at 135 lbs was able to earn a decisive Unanimous Decision over Bill Dexter.
