Jason Miller continues his dominance over Hawaiian fighters, as he overcomes Falaniko Vitale with a rear-naked-choke tap out victory at 2:19 of the 2nd round. The crowd of 6000+ was at a fever pitch throughout the action intense fight. The game-plan of each fighter was obvious within the first 2 minutes of the fight, Miller wanted to work submissions on the ground and Vitale wanted to bang when the fight was standing.
Miller was able to take Vitale down early in the first round, but Vitale was able to get back to his feet without sustaining much damage. In the last minute of the first round, Vitale landed multiple heavy right-hands. Miller was oblivious to the shots and lost no concentration. Miller was saved by the bell in the first round, as Vitale had him mounted and took his back nearly sinking in the choke.
The second round saw Miller get the fight to the ground, where he was able to methodically work his game. He was able to pass Vitale’s guard and got into full mount early in the round. As Vitale gave up his back to slip out the back door, Miller pounced on the opportunity quickly sinking the hooks in. Having Vitale’s back, Miller used measured blows to open up Vitale’s defense and eventually get the rear-naked choke tap-out victory.
Prior the main-event, KJ Noons put on an incredible display of accurate striking, while Harris Sarmiento demonstrated unbelievable grit, determination and heart. If there were any quit in either of these fighters, it would have come out in this fight. In the end, Noons was able to assert himself to EARN a TKO by ref stoppage late in the 3rd.
