UFC president Dana White on Monday announced that undefeated welterweight prospect Lance Benoist has verbally agreed to make his Octagon debut on Sept. 17 on the UFC Fight Night 25 fight card in New Orleans against TUF alum Matt Riddle.
Benoist (5-0) fought his way onto the scene via the Midwest regional circuit. He may only have fight bouts to his credit, but Benoist makes the most of his time in the ring, finishing all five of his opponents inside the first round.
Riddle (5-2) made not only his way to the Octagon, but his professional fighting career via “The Ultimate Fighter.” He fought on the show’s seventh season and has not fought anywhere else. Riddle is one of the few fighters that has fought every bout in his career in the UFC.
The two square off as part of the undercard in support of the Jake Shields vs. Jake Ellenberger main event at UFC Fight Night 25, also known as “Battle on the Bayou.” The event takes place Sept. 17 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.
