Lindland’s challenge of the Russian wrecking machine at last weekend’s
BodogFight in St. Petersburg, Russia.
came out swinging and opened up a cut early on Fedor and then went for the
takedown. Initially, Fedor instinctively grabbed the ropes and blocked Lindland’s
takedown attempts. Lindland was persistent though and eventually secured the
takedown, but Fedor was able to turn things around, eventually securing an
armbar for the win.
the fight, Lindland did express his displeasure at the outcome and stated his
desire for a rematch, “I absolutely want a rematch. I certainly think the fight
could have went another way.” But at the same time, he didn’t deny Fedor’s
efforts. “I made a mistake and he capitalized on it.
He’s a fantastic fighter and I would love to re-match him.”
