On this week’s Majority Draw Radio, hosts Ryan McKinnell and Danny Acosta return to the airwaves, delving into the stellar five-fight main card that is UFC 178, flanked by intriguing undercard bouts topped by former bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz’s return. In addition, Wanderlei Silva’s controversial retirement and 205-pound champ Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier’s Nevada Athletic Commission punishments are discussed.
UFC 178 main card standouts “Cowboy” Cerrone, Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier dish on their upcoming contests.
Cerrone, who meets former Bellator lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez in the co-main event, commented: “I want to be the guy, when they hear my name nobody wants to fight. Like, ‘F–, I gotta fight Cowboy. Damn.’ Becaue I know he’s gonna bring it, I know he’s coming.”
“Cowboy” wasn’t the only one straight to the point. McGregor’s 3-0 quotable run through the Octagon continued to build steam going into the toughest test of his career versus top-10 opponent in Poirier.
“In this MMA game, I’m ruthless,” said the Irishman. “I show no remorse. I’m not looking to make friends with these people. This is the game of ending another man’s dreams. Emotions are something I don’t feel; good or bad.”
